I am a writer, lecturer, and teacher in the extended field of design (including architecture, visual culture, technology, fashion, and music). I live in Amsterdam’s red-light district. My research applies the themes of agency, process, value, and meaning to a broad spectrum of topics, from cave paintings and object taxonomies to Missy Elliott videos and machine learning.

I am currently working with Arif Kornweitz on CTRL V—a project on copying, copyright, and creativity—supported by a research grant from Creative Industries NL.

I am the thesis advisor for The Commoners’ Society MA at Sandberg Instituut and a theory tutor in the Contextual Design MA at the Design Academy Eindhoven. I am also a theory lecturer in the Graphic Media Design MA at London College of Communication.

I frequently collaborate as an editor or co-writer with designers, publications, and institutions including Formafantasma, Martina Muzi, Supra Systems, NXS, Design Academy Eindhoven, and Sandberg Instituut.

I was born in Tel Aviv and lived in New York, St. Louis, Miami, Washington, D.C., Charlottesville, Zurich, London, Copenhagen, Eindhoven, Milan, Genoa, and Rotterdam. I studied architecture at the University of Virginia and contextual design at the Design Academy Eindhoven.

Previously, I worked at Design Academy as interim co-head (with Agata Jaworska) of the Design Curating & Writing MA, a thesis advisor in the Social Design MA, and a lecturer in the Man & Well-Being BA. I was also a thesis advisor in the Sandberg Instituut’s Materialisation in Art and Design MA. I have also been an external examiner for the design department at Iceland University of the Arts.

From 2015 to 2018, I worked at Het Nieuwe Instituut as a design researcher in the R&D department.

From 2014 to 2017, I was one of the organisers for the annual exhibition Atelier Clerici at the Salone del Mobile in Milan.

In 2013, Joseph Grima and I founded the design research studio Space Caviar in Genoa. (Since 2016, I am sadly a dormant member.)
